With the CEWE PHOTO BOOK Assistant you can create your CEWE PHOTO BOOK with relatively little effort.
You can deactivate the assistant at any time by clicking the "Work without Assistant" option.
The workflow comprises three steps:
On the left-hand side of the CEWE PHOTO BOOK Assistant a photo file browser is provided for selecting your photos and/or entire directories.
Drag your photos or directories into the free centre workspace of the assistant. They are then imported and displayed.
You can select several photos and/or directories and import them at the same time or you can drag them over at the same time.
You can specify whether your photos are sorted according to the date on which they were taken (chronologically) or according to their file name (alphabetically).
If you select the chronological option, the photos are sorted in groups on the basis of the time of the events and then distributed over the photo book pages.
Sorting according to the file name is suitable for photos which are previously well sorted on the hard disk or for photos which were not taken with a digital camera (scanned photos, photos from an image CD etc., therefore mainly analogue photos which have been digitised in some way).
Grouping and sorting is performed alphabetically, first by the name of the directory and then by the file name.
Sorting by file name enables you to influence and specify the sequence and distribution of the photos on the pages by previously assigned number prefixes in the folder and file names.
You can create sub-folders in each folder for further sorting. Numbering can start from scratch again in each folder.

When you have selected the photos for your CEWE PHOTO BOOK, the assistant calculates an optimum number of pages and the average number of photos per page.
The number of pages, photos per page and capacity are shown at the bottom of the assistant window.
The number of photos per page and the number of pages can be adjusted with the sliders at the bottom of the window.
The photos which do not fit onto the pages are automatically discarded and highlighted in red in the capacity indicator at the bottom.
The selected photos are displayed with a green check mark, the photos which have been discarded and are not used are marked with a red cross.
The photo selection can then be manually revised.
The commands "Always use selected photos for photo book" (green check mark next to photo), "Never use selected photos for photo book" (red cross next to photo) and "Delete selected elements from selection" (only disappears from the selection, the photo file is not deleted) are provided in the photo previews or in their context menu.
In the "Options" below the capacity indicator (click the small arrow) you can specify which photos should be automatically selected for the CEWE PHOTO BOOK.
The options "Faces", "Landscapes" and "Best photos" are available.
Styles are provided in the CEWE PHOTO BOOK Assistant to allow you to create a personalised photo book.
They comprise backgrounds and conventions for backgrounds, conventions for automatic selection of layouts as well as frame and shadow settings for your photos.
A wide range of pre-installed styles are provided on the tabs which are grouped according to their theme. Clicking "Preview" below the thumbnails shows you examples of the possible page style of the selected styles.
Full information on working with styles and how to create your own styles and customise existing styles is given in the "Working with Styles" section.
Details on working with styles is therefore not included in this section.
Enter the name of your CEWE PHOTO BOOK in the "Title" and "Sub-title" lines.
The title is then shown on the hard cover and soft cover versions on the front of the cover and on the spine, on the booklet only on the cover page.
The sub-title is only used if a suitable layout is available with a second text box on the cover.
By clicking the thumbnails of the binding you can specify whether your CEWE PHOTO BOOK is created with a hard cover, soft cover, linen or faux leather cover or as a booklet.
The "Create photo book" button launches the CEWE PHOTO BOOK Assistant and automatically adds the images, layouts, and backgrounds to the photo book.
You can now customise your CEWE PHOTO BOOK to match your own needs. Refer to the "CEWE PHOTO BOOK" section for details.

The CEWE PHOTO BOOK Assistant is a tool designed to help users automatically generate a photo book quickly and easily. The user only has limited control over the appearance of the photo book and the photo arrangement and the result may not be as expected or even not acceptable. In most cases the photo book will therefore require manual reworking. Everything can be manually changed; the sequence of the pages, the page layouts, the backgrounds and the photos. Regard the pages you create with the CEWE PHOTO BOOK as a suggestion and draft, and see what you can achieve with its assistance. Whether and what you use of its suggestions is up to you and your own creativity, which no computer in the world can replace! |
